OK for most applications--not very durable, though.

Thanks for your feedback
I bought this Ryobi palm sander brand new to replace my trusty old 1979 Makita palm sander that got gummed up when I used it to sand drywall. Doh!
The Ryobi works OK, but it doesn't seem to have as much torque as the old Makita.
The dustcatcher is kinda useless. It catches only about 20% of the sawdust, and since you must perforate the sandpaper to get the dustcatcher to work, you wind up using more sandpaper because it rips often and easily while sanding.
I dropped the poor thing while working on a ladder. The plastic base broke where the sandpaper sheet clamps onto it.
I researched where/how to get this fixed, but got nowhere. It wasn't a listed part, and it cost more to repair it than the sander cost new. So I gorilla-glued the base back together. It seems to work fine now. Hope I don't drop it again.
If I'd have dropped the Makita, its metal base wouldn't have broken.
